Part 1
In media and press we are confronted everyday with a lot of negative news about the muslim culture: bombs, burkas, minarets are some words of irritation and provocation which divide the western society… why? bombs have nothing to do with real islam culture, only unbelieving criminals use them, a minaret is just the same as a churchtower…
So let us take a closer look to the rich and beautiful middle eastern music scene, there’s much more then just rai and bellydance… As a red line leading through this night, and as examples of the polarisation between politics and culture, i will present some podcasts (in german language…) about the ‘other’ oriental music scene by thomas burkhalter and simon grab for norient.
